The last Carsington book! O Tragedy! Seriously, if there had been 11 brothers, each of whom got a book, I would not have been satisfied. I really liked this one, even though it wasn't as hilarious as Lord Perfect or Mr. Impossible, but it was a lot sweeter, and I swear I almost cried at the end when her daddy still loved her. (Long story.) In fact, it didn't read much like a romance novel, and I wish it had been 100 pages longer, because for once it didn't feel like two characters Destined To Be Together, but rather two people growing together and falling in love, and I wish they'd had more time to do it. This is all the best girly teary squishy parts of a Dickensian story (missing orphans! noble self-sacrifice! handsome jerks learning their lesson!) with an awesomely feminist perspective (why SHOULD men get to be proud of their bastards, while women are ashamed?).
