I'm trying to decide how I feel about this book.
On the one hand, it's Dorothy Dunnett, so it's full of intrigue and historicity and interesting characters and great women and complicated relationships.
On the other hand, I had a pretty easy time guessing what was coming next a lot of the time. Either I'm way smarter than I was with the Lymond books or there's some repetition here. And I liked Nicholas, but I didn't love him the way I loved Lymond.
I will probably read the rest of the series, but I'm not feeling a huge compunction to do so right now.
